A rape victim has died after living in a coma for nine months.
In January, Sherry Murphy was found behind Silver Bullet Lounge after being raped. She has been in coma ever since.
Richmond County coroner Grover Tuten confirms that Murphy was pronounced dead at 3 o'clock this morning.
It is unclear whether Murphy died from injuries related to the assault. She was in the final stages of liver disease at the time of the rape. Investigators awaiting autopsy results, and, pending those results, may bring murder charges against two men.
Michael Christian Clay was charged in February with aggravated assault on Murphy, along with four other rapes.
Carl Lamont Jones was charged that same month with aggravated sexual battery and aggravated assault in the Sherry Murphy case.
