An armed robber is on the loose, and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office says he is armed and dangerous. They need your help to catch him.

A man robbed A's Package Store on Gordon Highway at 12:30 this afternoon, ripping the money order machine right out of the wall and taking money from the register.

The robber stormed into A's Package Store waving a semi-automatic handgun and demanding that the 20-year-old clerk print money orders for him. Then for the next ten to fifteen minutes, he terrorized the young Hephzibah woman, threatening her life before locking her in the bathroom.

The following verbal exchange is taken directly from the surveillance video.

"Put your hands up. Hands up!" the robber ordered. "Come over here. Lock the door. Lock the door!"

"I can't find the key," Misty said, crying.

"You got to tell me if you pressed a button or something," the robber said. "I will blast the (expletive) out of you. You are pissing me off."

The doors stayed unlocked, but no one came to Misty's rescue.

She gave the robber cash out of the register and the lottery drawer, but he still wanted more.

"If you make a money order, will the police come?" he asked.

"No," Misty said.

"How much can you make them for?"

"$500."

"Okay, make them," the robber ordered. And as she worked, he goaded her, "You need to hurry the (expletive) up."

Misty tried to print $3500 worth of money orders.

"Take your time, take your time," the robber said. "I'm not going to hurt you...stop crying!"

Panicking, Misty struggled to print them fast enough.

"What's the hold up? Make them, make them," the robber said. "If I'm going to jail I'm going for murder, so hurry up."

"I'm trying to calm down so I don't mess up," Misty said.

"I'm going to shoot."

The robber then tried a different approach.

"I'm not in here for you and I apologize," he said. "I am not trying to hurt you."

Crowder prints what she can, and then...

"Come now...I ain't going to hurt you," the robber said. He led Misty to the bathroom and locked her inside.

After that, he returned to take what he could: the slips, the money...he even ripped the money order machine out of the wall.

Then he disappeared, leaving Misty sobbing alone in the bathroom.

A customer came into the store minutes later and heard Misty crying. She only opened the door once the man slid his driver's license under the door to prove he was not the robber.

It took another half hour to calm her down once the police arrived on the scene.

The robber is described as a black male with a low haircut and a goatee. He is over six feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light blue warm up suit with white stripes, black colored tennis shoes and a white baseball hat with what appears to be a Bridgestone golf logo.

Anyone with any information should call the sheriff's office immediately. He is considered armed and dangerous.
