Lottie Payne goes to jail
Lottie Payne broke in her five year prison sentence Saturday.
She was found guilty of two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree.
That's after her two toddlers got out of the house in April of 2005 and wandered to a retention pond, where they drowned.
Payne will also serve five years of probation after her time behind bars.
The district attorney says this is the first time a new criminal negligence law has been applied in the state.
Lottie Payne's husband, Dennis, plans to appeal the decision.
Suspect sought in Smile shooting
Deputies are still trying to figure out who's behind a shooting in Augusta over the weekend.
A 52 year old man is in the hospital after being shot in the chest at the Smile gas station at the corner of Sibley Road and Gordon Highway.
The shooting happened around 9:30 last night.
No word on the victim's condition.
Man jailed in estranged wife's shooting death
A Denmark woman is murdered in broad daylight and in her own front yard.
Rosalyn Tyler's husband, 31-year-old Chauncy Tyler is in jail for the shooting.
After a six hour statewide manhunt Friday, authorities found him just feet from the scene, next door with his father.
Chauncy Tyler was separated from his wife when this happened.
They have an eleven-year-old son who lives with relatives and was not home at the time of the murder.
Rosalyn Tyler also leaves behind a nineteen-year-old daughter.
Subway restaurant robbed
Investigators are also trying to piece together what exactly happened when a Subway was robbed in Augusta.
The restaurant in the Augusta Exchange shopping center on Agerton Lane was robbed just after 9 Sunday night (October 8, 2006).
No one has been caught.
Man wanted in package store robbery
Deputies are searching for a man wanted for robbing A's Package Store on Gordon Highway around 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon (October 8, 2006).
According to investigators, a man walked into the store and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the cashier before demanding money and money orders.
He made several threats of violence to the cashier, then took the money order machine, cash, and money orders, and locked the victim in the bathroom.
The suspect is described as a black male with a low haircut and a goatee.
He is over six feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.
Anyone with any information should call the sheriff's office immediately.
