According to the Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau, downtown Augusta fared well during this year’s Masters Tournament. They polled the businesses to find out about traffic through their businesses.
The Boll Weevil restaurant said they had a 50% increase over 2008. Other restaurants like Blue Sky Kitchen, Still Water Tap Room, Nacho Mama’s and Bee’s Knees reported business was better this year.
Not just restaurants fared well. The Gallery on the Row of Artist’s Row said their sales were up from 2008.
A new traffic plan, routing traffic downtown on the Calhoun Express from Berckmans Road, along with the new signage is likely to have had an impact on businesses. The Play Through Downtown promotion put on by the Downtown Augusta Alliance also is credited with having an impact.
