October 4, 2006

All schools in Columbia County will be on what's called "soft lockdown" tomorrow.

That's after a threat was found in a bathroom at Lakeside High School. It said "LHS will blow up on 10/5."

The soft lockdown includes locking all doors and limiting traffic during the school day.

Some privileges may also be revoked, and bathrooms could be supervised.

The school also plans to make patrols more visible and have hand-held metal detectors and locker searches.

They say they were already under heightened alert because of recent school violence across the nation.

A similar threat was discovered at Evans High School last Friday stating that there would be violence at the school today. Security was heightened there, and the day passed uneventfully. Due to the threat, 500 students stayed home from school.
