Aiken Public Safety has arrested a man shortly after the robbery this afternoon of the Security Federal Bank in the Target shopping center on Whiskey Road. Officers suspect that the subject is the same person who robbed First Citizens Bank on Monday.
At 3:45 Thursday afternoon, Security Federal Bank in the Target shopping center on Whiskey Road in Aiken was robbed.
A white male handed a note asking for money to a teller. He then fled with the money.
Aiken DPS had developed some information after the robbery Monday at First Citizens Bank, including a vehicle description. An officer spotted a vehicle matching the description.
Gregory Allen Thompson, 42, of Montmorenci was taken into custody and has been charged with the robbery.
Thompson fits the description of Monday's robber, and the investigation is proceeding under the assumption that this is the same man. However, he has not yet been charged in Monday's robbery.
Shannon D. Smith was driving the car the officer spotted. She was also arrested and charged with the robbery.
