GREENWOOD CTY, SC--The "Index-Journal" newspaper in Greenwood is reporting Mark Petersen will be the new superintendent of schools in the county's District 52. That's in the Ninety-Six area.
The paper says the school board unanimously named him to the job during a meeting Tuesday.
Petersen has been the McDuffie County, Georgia superintendent since 2004. He has 30 years in public education.
A call to Petersen's office for confirmation has not been returned as of 3:20 Wednesday afternoon.
