AUGUSTA, Ga. --- Richmond County investigators are searching for one armed robbery suspect, while another is in jail charged with robbing Jack's Grocery on Mike Padgett Highway Thursday night.
The robbery happened around 9:40 at 4630 Mike Padgett Highway in Augusta.
Investigators say Johnny Mack and Maurice Overstreet went into Jack's Grocery demanding money, cartons of cigarettes, and also filled a duffel bag with beer. Two employees and two customers were inside the store at the time.
When the suspects left, one customer chased them into the woods where deputies later found a duffel bag filled with the stolen beer and cartons of cigarettes. The bag still had a luggage tag attached and through information on it, were able to track down Mack and Overstreet and identify them as the robbers
Maurice Overstreet is in jail charged with armed robbery. Investigators are still looking for Johnny Mack. When caught, Mack will be charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
