BURNETTOWN, S.C. --- We have new information on the two 10-year-old kids who were busted trying to sell drugs to other students at an elementary school, according to investigators.

Burnettown Police Chief D. P. Smith tells News 12, he has sent information to the Aiken County Family Court Solicitor and the Department of Juvenile Justice, to see if the two students will face any criminal charges. We're told that could take about a week or so before any charges -- if any -- are placed on the kids.

Also, we've learned the South Carolina Department of Social Services has been contacted to see if they need to check in with the families of the 2 kids following this drug bust.

On Thursday of last week, Investigators say the two 10-year-old boys had about 3 grams of pot on them and tried to sell it to other students for pie, bubble gum and money.

Investigators still do not know where the pot came from in the first place and tell us the kids stories are changing. They are still investigating whether or not the pot was actually sold in the school.

The students have been recommended by school officials to be expelled permanently from the school district. That decision is now in the hands of the Aiken County Area 3 Advisory Council. They will meet on Feb. 19th to decide.
