Teen Killed By Car

We now know the name of the pedestrian killed this morning. 16 year old Alesia Henderson was hit and killed by a car while waiting on her school bus. It happened right in front of the Number One Mobile Home Park on Deans Bridge Road at about 6:45. Alesia's boyfriend, Marques McCoy tells News 12 he walked Alesia to the bus stop before he crossed Deans Bridge Road to leave. Marques says he heard the car hit Alesia.

Mayor Giving Back to City
Augusta's mayor is throwing in some of his chips to help towards the city's budget deficit. Deke Copenhaver sent a letter to City Administrator Fred Russell asking him to reduce the mayor's office budget by more than thirty thousand dollars. Nearly eleven thousand dollars of that will come from memberships like the National Conference of Mayors.
The Mayor is also giving back about fifteen hundred dollars for gas, 120 dollars out of the Mayor's phone budget, and ten thousand in discretionary funds.
The Mayor also says he'll pay for his city travel expenses until the budget is back under control.

Dollar Store Robbery
From Crime Team 12:
The columbia County Sheriff's Office is looking for the person suspected of robbing a discount store.
The Dollar General on Baston Road was robbed a few minutes after 8:30 last night.
One man walked in and went to the back of the store.
He walked an employee to the front of the store at gunpoint and demanded money.

Hotel Murder
Richmond County investigators are looking into another murder.
A shooting took place at the Red Carpet Inn off Gordon Highway just after 1:00 yesterday morning.
22-year-old Terrence Moore was pronounced dead at the hospital after being shot at the hotel.
Another man, whose name is still not being released, was shot twice in the hip.
He has since been released from the hospital and is being held for questioning by deputies.
Investigators say the crime appears to have been drug related.
