We have new developments today on the Medicaid situation at MCG hospital and clinics.
Those Medicaid patients whose appointments were cancelled today at MCG can breathe a sigh of relief.
The hospital has worked out a deal between both of the managed care companies taking over today to accept those Medicaid and Peach Care patients covered by private health plans.
Contracts with both companies, Wellcare and Amerigroup, have been finalized.
This means there should be no disruptions in services as once feared.
In a statement e-mailed to News 12, the MCG Health CEO says, "We are pleased to have reached fair and equitable agreements with Wellcare and Amerigroup. We have begun rescheduling cancelled appointments."
How quickly those appointments will be re-scheduled all depends on how fast the MCG staff can get pre-authorizations from both Wellcare and Amerigroup.
The contract with Wellcare was finalized last night, and the Amerigroup contract was finalized earlier this afternoon.
