A former South Carolina trooper is on the other side of the law. John Sawyer pleaded guilty today to a federal civil rights charge after a dash camera caught him kicking a suspect in the head during a chase in 2006.
Sawyer pleaded guilty to depriving a man of his right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by an officer.
The highway patrol suspended him, and he later resigned.
Sawyer has not yet been sentenced.
