SOUTH CAROLINA/GEORGIA -- An infant and two other people reported missing in South Carolina are being held hostage inside a Georgia hotel by the man accused of abducting them.
Authorities believe 25-year-old David Dietz is holding three hostages 17-year-old Jamie Lynn Burgess, Dietz' estranged wife,
29-year-old Eva Arce-Perez and her son, 7-month-old Allim David
Dietz.
Georgia State Patrol say the standoff is at the Red Roof Inn off of Eatonton Road. We're told FBI and GBI are on the scene.
Gunshots have been reported, but there are no reports of injuries.
Officers said this all started Saturday night around 11 o'clock in West Columbia. Dietz, a former police officer, allegedly abducted his estranged wife, his 7 month old child and the teenage girl.
Investigators said shots were fired during the kidnapping and that Dietz left with the three victims and was last seen headed south into Georgia in a silver Ford Explorer.
Investigators said Dietz was wearing clothing with the words police on it at the time of the kidnapping. We're being told he may now be at a Madison motel.
Officers did say earlier that Dietz was considered armed and that all three victims were believed to be in extreme danger. Stay with News 12 as we continue to follow this developing story
South Carolina authorities canceled the state's Amber Alert earlier in the day. A Levi's Call, which is Georgia's Amber Alert system, was issued when police learned the alleged abductor was headed toward Atlanta.
