Columbia County has a new office to coordinate help in an emergency.
The Emergency Operation Center is near the Evans Government Complex on Ronald Reagan Drive.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday morning for the new center.
The center is larger than the previous one and has more space for equipment and conference.
So far, there are 187 "CERT" members.
"The citizens, the CERTs, the mobile operations team you see out here...every one of those are citizens who volunteer," says EMA director Pam Tucker.
The public was able to tour the new operation center Friday afternoon.
