Underage driver carjacked

August 15, 2006

A 14-year-old jumps the gun on driving and ends up the victim of a car jacking.

It ended in Beech Island with a man running from the scene of an accident.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is looking for 18-year-old Demarcus L. Hilton.

Officers say the suspect drove around with the victim before putting him out, picking up someone else, and then wrecking the car.

"From our investigation, we found that the teenager was going to turn 15 in October. His parents had bought the car for him when he became of age. We found out that he took the car without his parents' permission," explained Lt. Michael Frank, public information officer for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

No word on whether the 14-year-old will face charges for driving without a license.
