A deputy is under investigation in Warren County, facing allegations of sexual assault against an inmate.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is being tight-lipped about their investigation.

According to the GBI's incident report, it happened sometime between 12 and 2 yesterday afternoon on East Warrenton Road.

The report states that a female inmate alleges a Warren County deputy had sexual intercourse with her while she was being transported.

Sources tell us the deputy was transporting the prisoner from a court appearance in Warren County back to the McDuffie County Jail.

It was on that trip that the officer allegedly pulled the sheriff's car off the side of the road and sexually assaulted the inmate.

An arrest has not been made at this time, and investigators are not releasing the names of the deputy or the inmate accusing the deputy of the crime.

However, we are told tests are being conducted in the case and have been sent to the labs.

Calls to the Warren County Sheriff's Office have not been returned.
