21 people are under arrest in Britain. Police say they were plotting to blow up airliners bound for the US.

Homeland Security says the skies are safe, but new security is leading to a long day at airports today.

The major effect in this country is that you can't presently take many items, including water, on the plane with you.

Many flights through London's Heathrow Airport are canceled.

The terror plot in London has sparked a nationwide airport security step-up in this country.

News 12's Domonique Benn went to Augusta Regional Airport to see what was happening there.

Passengers were finding no delays as of Midday, though they, like the rest of the nation, were dealing with a threat level of orange. All liquids and gels are of course banned in carryon bags. One man had to take all his shampoo out of his bag and throw it away, but other than that, we saw no real delays at Augusta Regional.

As you can imagine, this situation is leading to long lines at the Atlanta airport today.

Travelers can't take any liquid items past security checkpoints. That includes water, drinks, perfume, shampoo, hair gel, and suntan lotion.

All passengers also have to take off their shoes for screening.

If you're traveling through Atlanta, you should show up at least an hour earlier than usual.

In Boston, Massachusetts National Guard members are being activated to help with security at the airport there.

Other East Coast airports are in the same predicament today, since they handle many flights from Great Britain.

Some morning American Airlines flights from New York, Boston and Chicago to London were canceled, and three afternoon flights from London to those cities are also canceled.
