Augusta man behind bars on child cruelty charges
22-year-old Derrick Coleman was charged with first-degree child cruelty after he told investigators he tried to shake his 2-month-old daughter awake.
Doctors at MCG diagnosed the baby with a fractured skull and retinal hemorrhaging. Her injuries are serious, but she is stable at this point.
The child's mother was working at the time of the incident.
