Suspect arrested in Thomson bank robbery

August 2, 2006

43-year-old Nathan Jones, a resident of Thomson, has been arrested and charged in yesterday's bank robbery.

The thief hit the Sun Trust Bank on Washington Road in Thomson around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Police say he was wearing a bandana over his face, but didn't show a gun.

Tellers were able to put a dye pack into the money bag. It exploded outside as the suspect ran away.

Deputies staked out a house and searched the area with canine units prior to the arrest.

Jones was arrested at around 11 o'clock Tuesday night. He was released July 31 from a probation detention center after serving time for burglary.
