A family in Bamberg County is coping with a loss after a man is found dead by his twin brother.
It happened at his music studio near Olar.
Jason Edwards was found shot to death in his makeshift music studio early Sunday morning. His twin brother Jermaine was the last one to see him alive.
Jermaine says he and Jason were working in the studio and came in after midnight to get something to eat. Jermaine said his brother went back to the studio alone.
Jermaine went to check on his brother thirty minutes later and found him lying dead on the floor.
The Bamberg County coroner says Jason was shot multiple times in the head.
Jason's mother and two brothers were inside the house located directly beside the studio when the murder occurred. All three say they never heard gunshots. The family says the studio is soundproof.
The house is located in a very rural part of Bamberg County. The county sheriff requested crime scene agents and regional investigators from the South Carolina law enforcement division. As investigators search for the killer, Jason's family searches for answers.
"Myself along with my family are just really taken for the loss of his life," said Jason's brother Terry Gilbert. "He's too young to have this kind of tragic loss. It just doesn't make any sense."
His brother also told me how positive a person Jason was. He said Jason had dreams of developing his own clothing line as well as pursuing his music career. They remain baffled over why anyone would want to see Jason dead.
Right now the Bamberg sheriff is working with SLED investigators on the case. Officials say they are interviewing several persons of interest, but no suspect has been named and no arrest has been made.
Anyone with any information that might help solve this crime is asked to contact authorities.
