People in a south Augusta neighborhood are in shock after a 21-year-old man was shot the night of Tuesday, July 25.
Now investigators have what they think is the murder weapon, and they are questioning two men who may help them answer some questions about the murder.
Marcus Tyrone Harris was shot and killed Tuesday night on the 2200 block of Ramblewood Drive in south Augusta.
Investigators say they worked the case all night, interviewing several witnesses from the scene and searching for the car.
They have recovered a weapon they think was used in the murder.
A neighbor tells News 12 he witnessed the entire scene.
It was a quiet afternoon on Ramblewood Drive Wednesday. Many neighbors were still in shock over the murder that happened so close to home. One neighbor who didn't want to show his face on camera says he saw it all unfold.
"It happened all of the sudden, I heard the one gunshot, got up and I heard the young lady across the street screaming hysterically to call the ambulance," he says.
Marcus Harris was lying in the driveway dying from a gunshot wound to his chest.
"I didn't see him move at all," says the witness. "Wherever he fell, that's where he stayed. It was something awful. Not anything anybody I know would want to see."
Harris was transported to MCG, where he was pronounced dead. He was only 21 years old.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene to begin processing the evidence.
"We interviewed several witnesses to the incident," says Sgt. Richard Roundtree. "They were able to give us a vehicle description, which was broadcast, and the investigation continued from that point."
And Wednesday morning there was a break in the case.
"We were able to identify two subjects, and we are in the process of interviewing them at this time," Sgt. Roundtree says. "They are in custody, but no charges have been made at this point."
Neighbors today said they were still in shock over the senseless crime. They also say this is still a good place to call home.
The two subjects at this time are not being called suspects and no charges have been filed.
