Two days after an armed robbery at the seaboard Federal Credit Union on Wheeler Road, Richmond County deputies believe they know who the robbers are.

Richmond County investigators believe the two men holding up the Seaboard Federal Credit Union in the surveillance video are 18-year-old Paul Maness and 18-year-old Joe Hills, Jr.

"Based on the great video, it assisted officers which subjects were taken into custody," says Sgt. Richard Roundtree.

It was traffic stop at McDuffie Community Center where alert deputies were able to pull over a vehicle matching the description of the one used in that bank robbery. Deputies discovered a large amount of cash in the vehicle.

"As luck would have it, during a random traffic stop," Sgt. Roundtree says. "A subject identified inside the vehicle, upon being stopped he produced a handgun."

Officers say Joe Hills, Jr. was the driver of the car.

Two other men were with him. They are not charged in the incident.

The investigation then led deputies to Paul Maness's home in Columbia County.

"We were able to go to that subject's residence which is located in Columbia County. There we also were able to recover another handgun and another large amount of cash also believed to be taken in the robbery," says Sgt. Roundtree.

Sgt. Roundtree says deputies identified other items possibly used in the bank robbery.

"We recovered a bag that we believe the subjects used that was captured in the video and taken in the bank."

And officers say the surveillance video will be an asset when building their case.

Investigators are working with the FBI in this case. They do believe one of the weapons they recovered was used in the robbery.
