Firefighters from several departments worked in 100 degree heat to save homes on Sudlow Lake Road in North Augusta, near the city limits. The fire was first reported at around 3:00 p.m.

Try fighting a fire with fifty pounds of equipment on you...it is not easy. But in under an hour, firefighters had things under control.

Six fire departments responded to the blaze, which destroyed two sheds.

There were coolers of water and bottles of Gatorade, and a tent was pitched to provide the firefighters with some relief.

In this extreme heat, firefighters are trained to know the dangers of heat exhaustion and are also taught to know the symptoms.

There was an ambulance on stand-by just incase one of the firefighters did suffer heat exhaustion. Luckily, it was not needed.
