The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who climbed through a bedroom window and sexually assaulted a 48-year-old Aiken woman the morning of July 4.

“This burglary and attack is almost identical to one last week in the same neighborhood, so we think the same individual is responsible for both crimes,” said Sheriff Michael Hunt.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m., a man, armed with a knife, climbed through an open bedroom window. The subject pinned the victim to the bed, punched her several times in the face, and sexually assaulted her. The attacker then demanded and received money from the victim.

The Aiken Bloodhound Team responded and searched the area.
