GROVETOWN, Ga.---The future Grovetown High School, off Chamblin Road in Grovetown, will have its very own street. It will be located at 2010 Warrior Way.

It's still under construction, but it's come a long way. The new high school is ahead of schedule. The plan is to open the doors to students in August of 2009. Principal Penny Jackson is hoping they can start moving in somewhere around April or May.

Grovetown's colors will be red, white, blue and silver. Their mascot will be the Warrior and is inspired by the modern day soldier and Fort Gordon. The street address, 2010 Warrior Way, represents the school's first graduating class which Principal Jackson says was an important part of the decision.

"It's going to be a smaller senior class cause they have the option, and so to kind of reward and give them some ownership, we went with 2010 Warrior Way. This road, Warrior Way, is right by the athletic fields. It circles around the entire school with the loop and it just made sense," says Principal Jackson.

The official approval of the street name will come tonight, at the Board of Commission meeting at 6:00 PM. News 12 will be there and we'll have all the highlights on News 12 at 11:00.

UPDATED:
The Board of Commissioners approved the the new street name, 2010 Warrior Way, unanimously.
