Fraudulent checks passed at local gas stations, convenience stores
First the Raceway gas station on Washington Road and then the Discount Stop on Sandbar Ferry Road. Bad checks passed to merchants; some of them on fake accounts while other checks are flat out fraudulent.

AUGUSTA, Ga.--- First the Raceway gas station on Washington Road and then the Discount Stop on Sandbar Ferry Road. Bad checks passed to merchants; some of them on fake accounts while other checks are flat out fraudulent.

The owner of the Raceway says he's out of 26-hundred dollars. The Discount Stop store owner is out over 1500 dollars.

Richmond County investigators are looking into the matter.

If you know anything about these fake checks or if you are a merchant and suspect that you have one of these bad checks, you are urged to call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
