AUGUSTA, Ga.---A morning fire Monday damaged several apartment units in Augusta.

The fire started just after 9 a.m. at RidgeCrest Apartments, off Stevens
Creek Road. It affected the 3000 building.

Fire investigators say the fire was traveling up the interior wall and spread through some of the units.

They say the cause is electrical.

Investigators say contractors were putting new siding on the building, and they found an area where a nail had entered an electrical wire in the building.

Five apartments were affected by smoke and water damage.
