COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Clearwater Senator Tommy Moore has won the Democratic nomination for governor.
Moore defeated Florence Mayor Frank Willis and Columbia attorney Dennis Aughtry for the right to challenge Governor Mark Sanford in November.
With 85 percent of the precincts reporting, Moore has 64 percent of the vote.
Willis has 30 percent of the vote.
Aughtry has six percent.
Moore and Willis were locked in a sharply negative series of campaign ads in the final days leading to the voting.
