AUGUSTA, Ga.---He resigned from the Augusta commission because of controversy about where he lives. Now the coliseum authority chair wants Keith Brown to step down, and that may be the least of his worries.

Keith Brown was arrested early Wednesday morning. He was charged with criminal trespass and harassing phone calls involving his estranged wife.

He showed up at his home. She called police. At the center of it all was a bitter divorce dispute that just a few months back pushed a scorned wife into the public spotlight.

"I might be out of order, but my husband and these two are having an affair." said Brown's wife at recent coliseum authority meeting. "My husband and her have been having an affair since December; yes, Keith Brown the model citizen of Augusta, GA."

Brown is a former Augusta commissioner and current member of the Augusta Coliseum Authority.

"This is a private personal family matter," said Richard Isdell who is chair of the authority.

"Myself, nor the coliseum authority, nor anybody else in this town should be involved in that except Keith and his family."

Ordinarily so, but there's possibly a bigger issue. "He moved out of our home in January to be with her at his mother's house at 480 Duncan Road," said Brown's wife.

Duncan Road is the same address listed on the incident report. That address is in South Carolina.

"Bottom-line," said Richard. "If he doesn't reside in Augusta Richmond County he should resign or he probably will be removed from this board."

The tone has changed.

"As far as residency there's no wiggle room," said Richard. "I mean zilch, because otherwise we'd have people serving on these boards from Columbia County or Aiken County, and that's just the biggest no no to begin with."

We did try to speak with Mr. Brown. He had no comment. We understand his wife does intend to press charges. A court date has been set for the end of the month.

We are still waiting to hear more about Brown's future on the coliseum authority. His term on the board expires in early 2009.

Yes, Mrs. Brown was wrong and out of place but, maybe she just hurt. And when you hurt you're do anything to get back at the person who hurt you. I'm very sorry that their marriage had to come to this, no matter who fault it is.

The reason this is newsworthy is that he is a paid PUBLIC official and is held to a higher standard than the average person. When you act out it becomes public. And just in case you forgot, it takes two people to argue and fight, so they both have issues.

HIS WIFE WAS WRONG FOR BRINGING THEIR BUSINESS OUT IN THE PUBLIC. WHAT DID SHE ACCOMPLISH BY DOING THIS? SHE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED AS WELL AS KEITH. IF SHE DID THAT THINKING HE'D RECONSIDER COMING HOME SHE IS WRONG THIS ONLY MAKES IT WORST. THE WIFE HAS HER ISSUES TO DON'T LET HER FOOL YOU.
