Hot, dry conditions facilitate brush fires

Print

Hot and dry conditions helped a few brush fires burn the afternoon of June 8.

A fire off Old Ridge Road in Aiken County had crews busy for a while.

The Graniteville Fire Department says someone was burning trash when it got out of hand.

The fire spread and destroyed a few old cars on someone else's property.

It happened around noon, and was out in about an hour.

About the same time, the Silver Bluff Fire Department also responded to a brush fire.

A patch of grass and a shed were damaged.

It didn't take long to put out; however, crews did have trouble accessing the fire because of a sand driveway. One ambulance had to be towed out.
