Steven Felker of Avondale Mills tells News 12 the company has agreed to sell the Townsend plant in Graniteville. He says that will save up to 250 jobs.
Avondale recently announced plans to shut down everything, but has now agreed to sell Townsend and two Alabama plants to Parkdale Mills of Gastonia, North Carolina.
Townsend was remodeled in 1998, and the yarn made by ring spinning has a big demand in overseas markets.
Parkdale plans to offer jobs to Townsend's hourly workers.
Last year, Parkdale bought the former Delta Apparel plant in Edgefield, where about 100 people work.
