The defense may call one rebuttal witness Thursday. Closing arguments will follow, and the case is expected to be in the jury's hands Thursday afternoon.
This jury has been at this for two weeks and three days, and they have more than 40 counts to consider. They'll have to go count by count to determine if remaining co-defendants Stephan Botes and Peter Steyn are guilty.
Five people so far have pleaded guilty in the scheme to funnel education money to Linda Schrenko's 2002 gubernatorial campaign: Schrenko, Merle Temple, Richard Leonard, Miller Finley, and Johnny Turner, a CCSC accountant. The first four are Augusta locals.
