Sexual harrassment lawsuit filed against Dr. Charles Larke

A teacher has filed a sexual harassment suit against Richmond County school superintendent Dr. Charles Larke.

According to the lawsuit, back in 2001 Dr. Larke invited the teacher, Lori Myles, to go on a business related trip to Jamaica along with him and other government officials and employees.

The teacher says during the trip, Larke made advances of a sexual and intimate nature towards her.

Myles claims since she rejected his advances, Dr. Larke has failed to recommend her for promotions to higher positions in the school system.

Miles applied for principal and assistant principal positions.

She says when she learned the persons hired to fill them did not meet the qualifications, she complained to board members.

And for speaking out and complaining she claims Dr. Larke told her: "She should refrain from speaking out or otherwise making such complaints about the hiring practices taking place within the school district if she wanted to receive a promotion."

News 12 contacted school board attorney Pete Fletcher's office, who said he had not seen the suit.

Dr. Larke's spokesperson Mechelle Jordan said the same and refused to comment for our story.
