2.8-magnitude earthquake hits Lincolnton area

LINCOLNTON, Ga. (WRDW) -- News 12 has just learned there's been an an earthquake in Lincolnton near the McCormick-Lincoln County line.

McCormick County Emergency Services Coordinator Jason Brown says the U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed an earthquake with a 2.8 magnitude hit around 1:30 a.m.

He reports a small aftershock was felt about three minutes after.

There are no reports of any damage or injuries at this time.
