AUGUSTA, GA - There are major safety concerns at Augusta's Riverfront Marina. Caution tape is up along the public docks.
The Port Authority is in charge and says the wooden docks are dangerous. The Augusta Commission took emergency action this week, voting unanimously to spend about $45,000 in SPLOST money to replace the public docks.
According to Wayne Hawkins with the Augusta Port Authority, "We want people to use the river and we want to have a facility that they can be proud of and that they can come and get good use out of."
News 12 has learned the Port Authority has secured a contractor. The group is expected to replace all 382 feet of the docks within the next six weeks
