AUGUSTA, Ga -- An eight-year-old girl and her two teenage siblings, now without both parents after what investigators are calling a murder-suicide in Burke County.

It happened just before midnight off of Ben Hatcher Road near
Waynesboro. Investigators say Gary Scott drove his wife Calandra Scott to a church just blocks from their home and shot her, then went home and shot himself.

And the couple's three children were there.

"I loved my momma too much for this to happen." Clutching a picture of her mother, Calandra, 8-year-old Taelyr Scott fights back her tears. "I love my parents so much. I love my whole family too much for this to happen."

This, loosing both her mom and dad to domestic violence.

"I heard the children hollering daddy, daddy please don't kill my mom." says Gary's father Cleo Scott. He lives next door and says the argument began over emails Gary found between Calandra and another man.

"He was out of control. That was another person." Cleo, who's wheelchair bound, could only listen as he says his son forced Calandra into his truck at gunpoint. "I couldn't get out there. I prayed to god, I tried to get out there but I couldn't walk."

Investigators say Gary Scott then brought his wife here up the road to Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church and shot Calandra one time in the head. Their 3 children were not far behind, and drove up and found their mother lying here on the ground and they desperately tried to save her.

Family members say little Taelyr even tried CPR on her mother. "I pray and I prayed but it just didn't come true."

Moments later, Gary was back home where investigators say he shot himself in the head; leaving his children and family to grieve. "I just want people to know you need to love one another and if you can't get along with each other then just separate.Don't put this hardship on parents and children." says Calandra's mother Shirley Printis. She says Gary and Calandra had been married 11 years and family members say there were no known problems.

Printis will now raise the children and she says she's going to let the children decide if they want their parents to be buried together.

8-year-old Taelyr Scott lost both parents to an apparent murder-suicide. She asked News 12 if she could share her thoughts.

Taelyr should not have been interviewed at period. I dont think the families were in the state of mind to realize that because of the tragedy that took place. Seems to me that channel 12 would not have even made that an option anyway. The interviews with the adults should have been enough. However the station used a little girl so that they can get viewers and good ratings.

I can't believe a story like this was done using a child who just lost both her parents!! Channel 12 should have been the mature ones here and said no to the interview with the 8 yr old. How low can you get, to interview a child during her most vulnerable state. Wake up people!!!

What is this world coming to? I completely agree with the grandmother...if you are not happy with someone, PLEASE SEPARATE!! This family now has to try and move on after this tragic loss because of an EMAIL! I also wanted to say to News 12 that I watch your news everyday. However, I was surprised and a little disappointed that you all chose to "agree" to an eight year old being interviewed on television. Even if she wanted to, ONE ADULT there should have made the ADULT decision and said "NO!" Just my opinion!!!! My condolences to the family. God bless.

I find this to be the most reprehensible bit of reporting I have ever seen. In what world would WRDW find it approrpiate to interview an eight-year-old who had just lost her mother and father. This is morally repugnant. WRDW has sunk to the lowest form of senstionalism under the guise of journalism. Disgusting!

My heart goes out to the family, especially this little girl. I hope that the person who's going to be raising this child get her the help she needs to put this tragedy behind her, and give her lots and lots of love and understanding.

I guess you had to do what you had to do and if the girl was wanting to talk then that's ok. but from watching the story..i dont'think she was needed. The girl lost her momma. she be just a young things. not knowing what happened. Why bring her into this? i know you coulda asked someone else from the video i saw of people standin around. you chose the youngest and most affective. All i can say , it just proves what i always thought 12 is. you just cant get what you need. you have to try to get the best crime and dont care who you hurt. i cant watch a station like that. i pray for that girl and whoever did this story. I pray that reporter has more compassion. No wonder i dont like this station..cold hearted. Lord i pray for that girl her family and the reporter who made the decision to do such a thing. Have a heart and have God bless you. you need it.
