NORTH AUGUSTA SC.-- A woman is fighting for her life Friday night at University Hospital after officers responded to Whitewood Way where they say they found Doris Martin face down in the deep end of the pool.
Officers say her fifth grade son fell into the pool, and she jumped in to get him, but was unable to get out.
Her son did get out and went to a neighbors house and called 911.
The pool was under construction and was half full.

Doris was my neighbor several years ago. I moved, but she and I were so very close at one time. I still think of her often and have been wanting to phone her. I have a wallet sized christmas picture of her and the family and keep it in my desk drawer to remind me. I so hope and pray I can have that conversation. She is just one of those special people you never forget. I prayed so hard for her today and will continue to. She loves her family so much. I have been so blessed to have her in my life. Johnny - me and Brantley love you and the boys. Your mom can do this. She has Jesus to pull her through.
