AUGUSTA, Ga.---An accident involving a tractor-trailer shut down a portion of I-20 westbound around Walton Way Extension around Midday today, and backed up traffic well into the afternoon.

A tractor-trailer was going westbound on I-20 near the Walton Way
ramp. The driver said he got crowded and tried to move over but went up against the guard rail. The impact ruptured a diesel fuel tank.

Workers cleaned up the resulting fuel spill. No one was injured.

I20 IS A NIGHTMARE. THANKS GOODNESS LAST THURSDAY THE TRACTOR-TRAILER COULD GO TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND I took to the grass so the trailer-trailer behine me had room in the middle to stop with a slide from his brakes. I had 3 of my grandchildren with me. If there had been a wall that would have been an awfull thing to see. Please slow down and be carefull. PLEASE LIVES CAN NOT be replaced. There are 3 counties between the river and thompson. I suggest the state patrol, law men from all 3 counties have 1 man on that road along with the DOT personal to help keep the traffic at a safe pace and not a place waiting for something to happen.

I was behind this truck when it happened, It not only ruptured a diesel fuel tank it also ruptured the oil pan. I know this because it got all over my car from the impact. My car got covered in oil water and diesel from this accident. Thank goodness i always keep a safe distance away from tractor-trailers. Or else i would have rear ended him.
