AUGUSTA, GA… Dr. Dana T. Bedden has been named to ACT’s Education Advisory Board. ACT is a nationally recognized organization which works to help people achieve education and workplace success.

“I look forward to serving on the ACT Board and representing the Richmond County School System,” said Dr. Dana T. Bedden, Superintendent of the Richmond County School System. “My reason for accepting the invitation was driven by my commitment to connecting education and career awareness for students. While being invited to share advice, I also desire to strengthen my knowledge of college and career awareness
trends, developments, and opportunities for our young people.”

Cynthia B. Schmeiser, Ph.D., President and COO of ACT’s Education Division extended the invitation to Dr. Bedden to participate on the Education Advisory Board as an at-large member. The 15-member Education Advisory Board supports ACT’s work in educational areas. The Education Advisory Board provides advice and counsel on strategic issues such as identifying priorities and proposed strategies for accomplishing the priorities; evaluating the potential impact of educational trends and issues on ACT’s programs and services; facilitating strategic partnerships to advance ACT’s initiatives, and identifying
potential new markets consistent with ACT’s mission.

The Education Advisory Board meets twice a year. The dates for the 2008-2009 meetings are October 21, 2008 and tentatively February 6-7, 2009. Advisory Board appointments are for one year and are annually renewable; most Advisory Board members serve two or three years.

Keeping Dr. Bedden as an SOS in the metro Augusta area continues to become more problematic. His competence, compassion and passion are attracting more attention from other areas of our country. Dr. Bedden ain't purrfict but he'll do 'til the return of The Perfect One on Judgement Day.
