COLUMBIA, S.C.---A woman was in critical condition Wednesday after shooting herself in the head. It happened while she was in the emergency room of a Columbia hospital.

Police say the woman took a gun from a Department of Corrections officer who was there with an inmate at the time.

The woman has not been identified, and police are still looking into the incident, which happened Tuesday night (August 26).
