Augusta Ga.-- Investigators tell News 12 a teenager around 13 or 14 was hit by a jeep Thursday afternoon at 1017 Stevens Creek Road.
They say the kid ran out into the road in front of the jeep.
Deputies say they initially thought the child was hurt, but later determined the child may have a mental handicap.
The teen was taken to the hospital, but is okay.

I witnessed this event and I have to say I feel most profoundly for the driver of the jeep. The driver was not going very fast at all and stopped practically on a dime. There was no way for the driver to avoid this accident and I hope they realize that.
