State mandated raises for elected officials now in effect

Beginning May 1, several elected officials will see more money on their paychecks from the state of Georgia.

The new salary breakdowns are as follows:

The annual salary for the clerks of superior and state court is $90,000. Superior court clerk Elaine Johnson also gets a supplement from the county.

The salary for the solicitor of state court is also $90,000.

District Attorney Danny Craig's salary is $35,000.

The superior court judge's salary is $34,000.

The DA and the judge's salaries do not include salaries from other counties they serve.

Chief Superior Court Judge Fleming's salary is $36,000.

And Sheriff Ronnie Strength's annual salary is $105,000.

The raises are part of a bill signed on Friday by Georgia governor Sonny Perdue.
