Gov. Nathan Deal has officially accepted the resignation of District 6 Commissioner Joe Jackson.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Gov. Nathan Deal has officially accepted the resignation of District 6 Commissioner Joe Jackson.

Jackson announced his resignation Wednesday. He led District 6 in Augusta since he was elected in 2007. Jackson is resigning in his second term in office.

In Jackson's letter of resignation sent to Gov. Deal, he cited family and personal issues as his reason for leaving.
