FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.---While thousands were forced to evacuate from south Florida, others stayed and even hit the water instead of seeking shelter.
One kite surfer thought he'd have a little fun with Fay--until a strong gust of wind picked him up and slammed him into the sand. Then the wind picked him up again and threw him into a building.
He was taken to the hospital, and friends say he had some broken bones, but as you can imagine, it could have been much worse. Tropical storm winds can get up to 73 miles an hour.
