NORWOOD, Ga.. --- They're calling it one of the largest single drug busts in the state of Georgia.

Today Warren County deputies and several local and state agencies had their hands full, seizing more than $14 million in marijuana. The bust happened on Cadley Road in Norwood.

Over seven thousand stalks were counted and collected during the sting. It was an all day event for Warren and McDuffie County authorities working along with DNR, Georgia State Police and the Governor's Task Force for Drug Suppression.

Warren County Sheriff J. Peebles and the team set up their operation Thursday morning and completed the operation before sunset.

Approximately 15 acres of land was covered with the illegal plant. The drug was planted in "bunches" but thanks to technology and agency helicopters the plants were easily spotted.

Sheriff Peebles says it was a long day and it has been a long investigation but says that all of the hard work has paid off.

As for an arrest, there is no one in custody yet, but there is evidence the growers have ties to the area.

The plants and other evidence will eventually be destroyed by the Warren County Sheriff's Department.

Uh-oh, everybody be aware of your surroundings, when the dope stops flowing this way, the local buyers and sellers get cranky, combative and desperate. Crime goes up like clockwork each time there's a major bust involving Georgia drug trafficking.
