Middle-schoolers in Columbia County are learning all about the birds and the bees.
Keith Deltano was in the gym at Columbia Middle School the afternoon of April 24 talking to students about abstinence.
Deltano says he brings the real facts about teenagers and sex, but packages it in comedy so the kids will be more receptive.
The former teacher says he wants to bust some of the myths kids believe: like everyone's doing it, and oral sex isn't dangerous.
"The comedy is kind of a left jab to set them up for the facts and the facts are that sex in high school and middle school is a risky proposition," Deltano says.
He'll also speak to parents at a dessert reception at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
Deltano says parents are often in denial, and the point of meeting with them is to tell them what's actually happening and what they can do.
