South Carolina to transfer power back to Allendale Co. schools

The state of South Carolina will transfer some power over Allendale County's schools back to the local school board.

The local board will regain full authority in June of 2007 if it meets all the terms of its agreement with the state.

The state took over control of the district in 1999 because of poor performance.

Since then, the county's average SAT scores are up 129 points.
