Update: As of the afternoon of Friday, April 21, the computer issues at the Motor Vehicle Division in Evans have been resolved. The office will resume normal business hours on Monday, April 24 at 8:00 a.m.
The motor vehicle office in Evans is closed until the state computers are restored. Service was interrupted at approximately 7:00 A.M Thursday morning.
The Department of Revenue through Georgia Technology Authority is in the process of upgrading all the network circuits using a new vendor. The Columbia County site in Evans was identified as an old circuit and it was disconnected this morning by the former vendor.
With the problem identified, every effort is being made to make a new connection as quickly as possible. However, the estimated time of re-connection cannot be determined. Therefore, there is no motor vehicle service at the Government Center in Evans Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21, and possibly Monday, April 24, since that is a holiday for state employees.
The office in Appling has not been affected by this outage. Any motor vehicle business can be conducted at the county seat. The hours of operation in Appling are 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P. M. Renewals can also be completed over the web at www.columbiacountyga.gov/taxcommissioner.
