Bank robbed; suspect at large

Shortly after 3:00 pm, the Wachovia bank branch at Washington and Bertram roads in Augusta was robbed.

The teller gave the money to the robber in a dye pack, and he may be covered with red dye.

The lone suspect was armed with handgun and was wearing a paintball type mask over his face. He was also wearing a white in color cloth over his head, possibly a t-shirt.

The suspect was wearing a dark jacket and sweatpants, but those items were recovered at an apartment building directly behind the bank. The suspect was last seen on foot in that apartment complex and had an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080.
