Today, South Carolina governor Mark Sanford signed a bill to move back the school start date across the state.
Under the bill, the window for the start of school is no earlier than the third Monday in August.
The bill is aimed to both lengthen the time families can spend together during summer vacation and increase revenue for the state's tourism industry.
